J18: Protest Against capital (David Wheeler)

The j18: (June 18th 1999) Stop the City Protest. London. Edited for the This is Not a Gateway Festival 2010. I was part of a team of camera operators shooting footage from all over London and uploading their video throughout the day onto the web. This film is the footage from my camera only. The internet was new and uploaded video was in its infancy but it was the beginning of activists using the internet to show an alternative view from mainstream media coverage of important political and social events. Put j18 into Wikepedia for more information about the global response to the day. Unfortunately some footage was lost but i hope this film gives an impression of the day.
