It is important to begin before the true growing season of your lawn, so you can eliminate weeds before they become a real problem.

On cool season grasses, you have two choices: Sta-Green CRAB-Ex or Sta-Green CRAB-Ex PLUS fertilizer. Both of these products lay down a protective barrier that blocks weeds as they try to break through the surface of the soil. Both CRAB-Ex and CRAB-Ex PLUS will protect your lawn for up to four months. You can even apply CRAB-Ex one month after crabgrass appears. CRAB-Ex PLUS allows you to prevent crabgrass and fertilize your lawn in one application and it is guaranteed to feed your lawn for 3 months.

For warm season grasses, Sta-Green Southern Weed & Feed is your best choice. It feeds your lawn for 3 months and kills existing weeds, all in one application.

You cannot plant any type of grass seed during the entire spring season when using crabgrass preventer because it will prevent your grass from emerging. Refer to the back of the back of the bag for detailed application instructions and precautions.
