Maybe he is an occultist, even that doesnt matter if you think about it. it just matters what you feel and what you think about life and all that shit and of course about the devil. you just have to be critical with everything!

I often considered about Clapton, Rock musik or even blues and the occult. But in this case and in so many other cases you just have to put some pieces of him together to get a certain image. Actually we dont know if he is an occultist but either we dont know if he is not. But one thing is clear: he did for a half of a century music i like and his music is so uncomperable.

So Clapton is this huge RJ fan and writes a song about the kind of situation that seems to have led to RJ's death. That song also features a backmask stating "I AM THE DEVIL DOG". So is Clapton saying that Johnson's "Hellhound On My Trail" is about some jealous husband who is gonna get him, or might Clapton also be implying that he is the "Torchbearer" of the Blues? Very clever! Of course for any of this to be so Eric would have to be into the occult. His way of going down to the crossroads..?
