@sunchildtine - Oudezijds Achterburgwal, or an alleyway near it. There are also brothels, which could be anywhere.
They're not 'everywhere', as Mr tourist below stated. He didn't leave the red light area, so they would seem to be everywhere - duh!
You can easily avoid them if you want to. The brothels are discreet.
It's more in your face here around this canal. If you're not in the red light area every day, you may go for months, or years, without ever seeing a hooker.
