I have not heard of Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلّم wearing the ghutra, but it is confirmed that it has been worn by the arabs and, more importantly, the monotheits since ibrahim. Most of bani israil's prophets and people, as well as their forefathers, wore such things. الله اعلم as to why it appears the companions and prophet did not ever wear or make mention of it - it may have been more regional.

If that is a ghutra then what is a keffiyeh? And how do you pronounce these words? I am reading about the Israel and Palestine conflicts and I'm interested in the Middle East culture.

oldest arabian tradition Uniform.
