This is absolutely terrible. Everything he said not to learn in this video, is essential if you actually want to learn the instrument (not just play songs everyone knows).

First off, scales are extremely important (especially for lead guitar, or electric) because the different modes or each scale are basically every rock, jazz and blues solo ever invented.

And as far as the notes on the fretboard go, how do you expect to play barre chords if you don't know the root?

this guys a dumbass are you serious scales are important anyone can play chords but it takes a real guitarist to improv with a scale this is either a joke or that guys just sucks at guitar
