I would have to agree about this, very frustrationgly difficult,, but so aaddictive, you just comback for more.

ah columns... when going for a high score those "SLAM" sounds of the gems can get really terrifying

theres also another game mode where you have to get a flashing jewel laying in the level. and you can set how many layers there are to break through to get to it

My grandma plays this game on our old MegaDrive. She os over 70 years now but plays the shit out of it. When I play against her, it's just a pure fun. The music is pretty melancholic, yes. Adding some sort of sadness to the good memories playing that game for 1,5 hours in a row without "dying". Starting a new game after that is like playing in Slo-mo^^

I played this on Sonic's UGC earlier today! First time I've played the game in years and I managed to get like 2 million points/ level 71. Loved this game as a kid, and it's still quite enjoyable to this day!
