i was at that murray the k show too. it was on the saturday before easter sunday 1967. the headliner was mitch ryder. the next day we went to the first be-in in central park. cream was there walking around and missed a few of their perfomances at the RKO. murray was pissed. saved the program from that show which also featured smokey robinson, wilson pickett, simon and garfunkle, and others. all that for about $3.50 in a movie theater. we never knew we had it so good and now it's gone.

You should really try and get all the facts there Ungarn - Page was indeed present at the session but it was Townshend who played the parts on "I Can't Explain" including the solo. PT wouldn't let him use his 12 string Rick. Page did add some of the fuzz parts on the flipside "Bald Headed Woman" - this according to Page and Townshend as well as Shel Talmy (producer)
go ahead though and enjoy your moment in the "I'm oh so wrong even though I thought I was right" spotlight anyway -

Thanks for this video! I do believe I attended this show, do you have an exact date? I know I saw them in a series of five concerts in November 1967. I was about to turn 11. Me and my Dad went to lots of Who shows together in that era and it continued until about 1974.

I attended the first ever in NYC ,The WHO & The Cream performance at the Murray the K's RKO 59th St. R&R show in about '66 or '67( I think it was ''66, cause I was still in the Air Force at that Easter Show).....I do remember walking out thinkin' WTF was that! I was straight at this show! Later on after a few trips with Tim Leary , I really became a fan of them both....but at that show it was just noise to me!!!

no it was in 1967, read the info
Thanks, and I wish I knew when it was. I think it was during one of those "Murray the K" or other DJ hosted event with 6 shows a day at the Village Theater. I only discovered the original super 8 film a few years ago and the can wasn't marked.

You are correct! Thanks for clarifying. I did shoot it myself, at age 21. Had just come back from England where I saw them in clubs. I think this was their US debut. Do you know?

the first shows they did where for murray the k in march 67 at the rko theatre in new york. they then returned to play monterey in june, toured with hermans hermits in late summer, and then toured on their own later that year.

Thanks again for the Whostory lesson. Were you at any of these concerts, or just a student of the group?
