  • This is great. Though I'm wondering why Getriz got ten thumbs down. What'd they do?

  • The creobots regularly come by to shout down anyone who disagrees with them, SEA. For such an "oppressed" group, they sure do all of the repressing, don't they?

  • @jbclark61 I am one as well, I don't believe in magic. Or magical beings. If scientist were using science from 200 years ago (( let alone 2000 years ago)) and saying just believe because it is true because we say it is true, see in this book Darwin said it is true so it must be true....But No Darwin said other things need to be found and checked and they have continued to do so every day for over a hundred years, UP with real peer tested science and down with Flying Spaghetti Monster....

  • @CiscoWes

"an atheist is limited to only BELIEVE that God doesn't exist."

Incorrecct. The non existence of gods is the default position because the existance of gods has not been proven. Not proven = not true.

Atheism is not a religion because it is not a belief or faith. It's reciognition of fact.

  • @CiscoWes "And unfortunately for atheists, it is the belligerent atheists that are the mouthpeice of atheism." - My friend, I could say the same for the loudmouthed Christian fundamentalist who preach nothing but hellfire and damnation to anyone who has the "gall" to disagree with their particular version of Christianity...but I also know some very polite and open-minded Christians who can discuss the issue reasonably. It just seems the squeekie-wheels get the most attention.

  • @CiscoWes "So what you are saying is that atheism is split into different sects or 'denominations'." Something like that.

"Every atheist I have encountered all believe that God doesn't exist. If they didn't know, they would be an agnostic." Now you have encountered an atheist who doesn't make a positive assertian that "God doesn't exist" and let me assure you, I'm not the only one.

  • @jbclark61 So what you are saying is that atheism is split into different sects or 'denominations'. Every atheist I have encountered all believe that God doesn't exist. If they didn't know, then they would be an agnostic. And unfortunately for atheists, it is the belligerent atheists that are the mouthpeice of atheism. And it doesn't take someone rubbing them the wrong way. And that is indeed very narrow minded.

  • @CiscoWes You really should learn the difference between weak atheism and strong atheism....I don't know very many "strong" atheist that make positive assertians that they know there is no God as you are claiming....You seem to be saying that just because there are some vocal ones that rub you the wrong way all atheists take a belligerent stance and this is no more true than all Christians are Jim Jones clones or the types who shoot abortion doctors and blow up their clinics. Very narrow-minded!

  • @jbclark61 Leprechauns, trolls, santa claus, tooth fairy, etc... are all very common atheist strawman arguments and/or red herring arguments. The "I don't know" opintion belongs to the agnostic, which is a notch above atheism. At least an agnostic leaves room for discussion and exploration, instead of the belligerent stance of the atheist which leaves no room for discussion or exploration.

  • @CiscoWes "The only time we hear such a shaky term of "lack of belief" is in atheism." No! Do you absolutely believe that nowhere, notime, in this big universe that leprechauns, trolls, fairys, or vampires never existed...or do you "lack such a belief"? The problem Theists have here is this "black or white" scenario. You think either you believe something is true or believe something isn't true...you fail to consider the other possibilities like "I don't know" or "I haven't formed an opinion".

  • @jbclark61 The only time we ever hear such a shaky term of "lack of belief" is in atheism. Atheism is speaking from ignorance so we have a pot calling the kettle black scenario. No one is talking about a "god" of Apollo. That's a convenient red herring atheist argument. Again, an atheist is limited to believing that God doesn't exist. An atheist uses faith to believe that God doesn't exist.
