if you look at the official complete works book the maker said that this ending takes place at an unknown point in time AFTER x8 and command mission.

after this scene zero's body is used to make an anti virus (mother elf), zero's is put in a new body, and his old body is made into omega.

the elf wars then happen, zero puts himself to sleep for a 2nd time, the whole x sealing the dark elf thing happens, ciel makes copy x with out telling anyone (who goes evil). Zero is awaken. Zero games start

The Zero in the Zero series is indeed the same as the Zero who seals himself away in this video. Between the events of X6 and Zero, Zero's originally body was stolen, and the one you see in the Zero series was created for him. You do eventually see his original body in Zero 3, though -- It's just a different art style, and that's why it looks so different. This is all told in the Mega Man X Complete Works book, and not in any of the games.

The end of the X series was supposed to be X5. Everything after that was made without Inafune's OK, and he had to go along with it since he was under contract. He intended the end of X5 to lead straight into the Zero series, and because X6 was forced, he had to change a bunch of the storyline. This is now considered to be the true ending of X6, though, leading into Zero. X7 and X8 are not part of the official storyline.

OMFG I love Megaman and Megaman x but cmon dead alive dead alive its boring Im glad they made the megaman zero games. He could not survive under X if they wanted the character to survive they had to get them apart. For a while there has been a group that wanted zero to surpass X and this was thier only chance of doing it and keeping them both in good standing. Zero with a cloned body fighting a posessed X body.

@armando92 but the whole Idea of Megaman Zero sucks. why are you gonna destroy a iconic character as X whom a lot of ppl grew up with as a child by turning him into a villain all to make Zero the main star just because that is what he wanted from get go. well news flash, Zero is not the main character. he's the Cool Sidekick. thank god they continued the X series. that MMZ bullshit sucked. MMZX wasnt much better

@lucasfraca the creator wanted to end the series in X5 so the breaked zero in Megaman Zero 1 makes some sense but Capcom wanted that him continues the series

@ironbee32 Magaman X6 isn't in English ver in PC..I've gave up finding English ver.
