When I was ten I used to love this song listening to it at the corner store at six in the morning after delivering my papers. I would sell my extras outside the store even though it would be blowing cold and earn a few cents. I could buy a pop and a comic and I would sit and listen to Hellen singing this amazing song.

Great lyrics capture the spirit of music to comfort and strengthen the isolated and alone. Helen Reddy's dispassionate singing actually works here because you don't expect the musically violent, mysterious ending. Great lyrics by the late Mr. O'Day, first class arrangement. Great pop record which deserved to hit #1 and did.
