The book and author is : RANSOMED FROM DARKNESS by Moira Noonan. This was his little desesperate message to you, subtle but still. This book is very informative on the subject and various despite its only 200 pages.

In the book the Max Devore and the old lady who was called the white "grand ma" was BROTHER and SISTER

In my opinion Stephen King is one of the greatest literary geniuses of the modern era. the mini series was grossly disappointing in comparison to the literary work. Most of my favorite parts was not in the movie or they was absolutely butchered the worst part was the theme of the book or the main plot was completely changed in the show.
