I wrote this song when I saw what I thought was irresponsible methods used to drill for gas where I live. I am not anti-progress. I am against the irresponsible destruction of nature, however. I am playing all the instruments in the song and doing all the vocals. Over 90% of the photos were shot in McDowell County, West Virginia.

  • As with anything, there is a right and a wrong way to drill, to mine, to timber land, etc. This song is the result of what he saw to be the wrong way of doing things. If you love OUR mountains, too, you'd agree if you saw what he saw.

  • Furthermore, you'll be hard pressed to find someone more proud of HIS mountains than Cathead. Far from an out-of-stater, he not only was born and raised in WV, but he raised his family (all of which are still in WV) here, as well. He's coal and heritage proud, no doubt and the son of a hard-working McDowell County man who gave his life to mine coal. He not only loves Appalachia, he IS Appalachia.

  • @charliepc56 I don't doubt it. Thanks for watching.

  • Just as timber and coal companies before, the gas companies are running over the people of Appalachia and exploiting the riches found underneath the mountains. Only difference is, some of the gas companies are foreign owned.

  • keep up the good work and making good music thank you cathead

  • Very well stated! Thank you!

  • Thank you, Stacy. I could have never said it as well. You hit the nail on the head and moistened my eyes........again.
