Baltimore's own almighty "no jazz" outfit (which I take to be a shortening of "noise jazz," but I'm sure that it has another meaning), Microkingdom descended from the ether to give the most essential and flat-out awesome musical performance of this year's Hampden Fest (and, no, I didn't see all of the other acts, but I still feel safe making that assumption)
Microkingdom validates my bias that avant-garde can be pretty damned funky. I realize that this music may not be for everyone, but if you can open your mind to it, it's just plain FUN!!

Tragic side note: This was originally the first of two videos that I took of the band. The second video was far more epic with the duo just kicking ass in a much more photogenic way.
Unfortunately, my phone ran out of memory (time to get that memory card) and of that video, I apparently got NOTHING! I am not happy about that as you can imagine.
I do, however, have my memories (and a solid audio recording of the entire set), but that video was (or would have been) really damned good. Let us please observe a moment of silence.
fuck yes
