This hymn is the national anthem of Britain. Not a tribute to a corpse on a forgotten throne. This hymn defines England and Britain with its dignity and pride.

I agree, since England does not have a national anthem this is the ideal choice, I would also like N.I to have its own anthem instead of GSTQ since England also share this which is a bit daft imo.

Personally I think this should be England's (not perhaps necessarily the UK's) national anthem. Though not a Royalist and certainly not liking the current national anthem, this just encompasses England and not the other countries that currently make up the United Kingdom, no for that I think we need a new national anthem (certainly when we finally knock the monarchy) out of the country.

We live in one of the most comfortable countries in the history of the world because of a two hundred year period of Imperialism, the effects of which are still fucking up the lives of a lot of people in the world. Are you and I personally responsible for this? No, but we reap it's rewards every day we don't have to worry about water coming out of our taps.
