Here is some footage from CTEK west and Repco stage on Sunday 6th September. Whilst driving from Kyogle to Kingscliff for the WRC final ceremony we took a wrong turn at Murwillumbah to only end up next to the barrier for the Speed on Tweed track. Got a few shots. Apologise for the poor quality film.

  • Obstacles placed on road, with warnings given in advance, was what got that stage stopped, and the media, grabbing at sensationalism took our story, of the inappropriate location of this rally, to the world. Rally drivers agree, rallies should not be held in residential areas or National Parks.

Fast driving is IMO the immature act here.

Car parking gate money, is a Pittance compared to $8M spent of taxpayers money, that could be spent on local hospitals, needed for fast driving accidents !

  • right mate, im not gonna argue the point. placing things on the road no matter when, where how or why is stupid.

  • I'm not into motorsports, and I drive a kombi, probably more of a hippie than not, live in Murwillumbah and I thought the Rally was exciting. Might even watch a bit next time.

  • great to hear mate! once you start motorsport the bug bites and you are hooked.

  • The venom of the pro rally fanatics speak volumes of their character. I pay rates, I pay taxes, I vote, I have a professional job and I oppose the WRC Act. I oppose high speed racing in National Parks and areas of high conservation and Endangered Ecological Communities. The comments over the internet regarding Rally supporters and the media aimed at those opposed is indicative how bullying the industry is.

  • @hoodzzeee more like the worst thing

    NO RALLY IN OUR VALLY

  • Repco was the best stage of the Rally CTEK close second,,,,,,,,awesome.,.....

    locals love rally,,,,,,,,,,,

    see ya 2011.......

Asia -Pacific Championship 2010 Kyogle Shire..

  • like i said in a previous comment, all the money gained from car parking at stages were given to charity. so dont complain about the rally not bringing money int. even if rocks weren't thrown then obstacles on the road was too far. the protesters would have achieved a lot more if these silly acts of immaturity didn't happen. end of story

  • A rock may have been thrown on day 3 after the media rampage. But reading their story of it, it didn't sound true, "We kinda saw some people in the trees, we sorta heard a bang, a couple of metres on, checked rear-view mirror, and saw rear screen smashed, and then we kinda saw some people running off".!!

Many windows get trashed just in normal rally racing. I personally don't believe this rock was thrown by a protester. More "Lets turn it into a media attack on protesters, it's already broken"

  • artnomadi,Rocks HAVE been thrown, obstacles have been placed on the track and that amounts to an act of terrorism, golf club was thrown at a rally car, another rally car had its rear window smashed, member of the 'No Rally Group' has been arrested for VANDALISM and faces court shortly. Protesters ignored their own 'Code Of Conduct for a Peaceful Protest', Cattle were let on to the roads etc. Hey man, you know where I'm going here. If the Gov. invests money on an event, they expect a good return!

  • Rocks weren't thrown on the CTEK East stage, obstacles were placed on road, sweep cars warned about obstacles ahead. Protesters have protested vigorously by every other means, all year, to deaf ears, lured by the mention of big money. But it was big money spent not to be gained. WA used to give orgs. $6M, & still they wanted more. NSW, it has been revealed by FOI, paid out $8M ! to a company masquerading as a non profit org

Rally drivers, shocked our Gov. allowed race thru residential & Nat.Pks
