Alberta Environment's Partners in Resource Excellence is an outcome-based environmental management approach that brings together landowners, contractors, industry representatives and the government of Alberta to address oil and gas development issues.

Partners in Resource Excellence has: generated trust and understanding between affected stakeholders; resulted in an increased level of stewardship in protecting the land; and become a source of inspiration and pride for those constructing energy projects in the Province.

One of the primary successes of this program was the development of the low impact pipeline system (or Innovative Pipeline Strategies, IPS). New techniques and technologies have been developed and as a result, land affected by pipelining is being returned to landowners in a productive state in record time. This process reduces time and cost in comparison to previous methods.
