As a vote on health care reform nears, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) continued his Health Care Listening Tour today in Fairfield where he met with a group of physical therapists to hear their ideas and concerns regarding health care reform
According to physical therapy providers in Fairfield County, insurance companies have recently significantly reduced their reimbursement rates for physical therapy treatment. In order to make ends meet, many practices—often small businesses in their own right—have had to choose between laying off therapists or providing less treatment. Neither option works for the patient or the provider.
Properly administered, physical therapy prevents return hospital visits and unnecessary surgery and helps patients live better lives.
