@camwizardoz The naturally aspirated 917s were the ones that did endurance racing. These turbocharged 917 spyders competed in can-am, where the races were much shorter, in the range of 1-2 hours long.

@GavinS1965 Have you ever drag raced something other then your moms car ? It all depends on the class and ET your racing. There are classes that would make you scream like a little girl. All auto racing is great ...

Check your litterature again. QUALIFYING engines had +1200 hp (dyno bottomed out at 1200 hp so no ones knows how much the engines delivered actually. Anything more than 1.300 hp is most likely an exageration same as with BMW F1 Turbo engines.

Drag Race? A car that was SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to do one thing. Go as fast as possible for 24 hours. Drag that. They were doing over 200mph down the Mulsanne PRE-WW2
