Grant, watching this video reminded me of my coming out story. In fact, today is the one year and one month anniversary of my coming out. I remember being so scared, but sick of having to hide this from everone. My friend told me, however, that you have walked around with this on your shoulders for your whole life, and it is time for you to be selfish and say that it is time for your parents to deal with it whether or not they accept it. My parents said the same exact thing that your parentssaid

Grant, I know so many people have commented already, but I just wanted to add my thanks for sharing this with us and for being such a strong and brave young man. I try to remember that most of our parents weren't exposed to gay culture as openly as people are today...as were raised to fear it. That, topped with all the stories of gay suicide and bullying are enough to scare a parent half to death. That said, I am so glad your Mom accepted you and I am SO PROUD of you for coming out to her. HUGS!

I just finished watching this vid. I don't know if you have come totally out yet but want to share some advice with you. First don't worry about having pushed your mom away during the hug. It's a natural response due to the stress. Second, if you are ready to be out then do it. Don't make it a big deal, be yourself. If you make it a big deal even if only in your own head it will happen that way. Don't let your parents put you into what would just be another closet.
