Lowell Green, famous Canadian news personality and pundit on CFRA talks about the situation in Afghanistan and his stance on discussions about pulling Canadian troops out. If you like motion typography and strong speaking voice you might like this? I'm not very political myself but I do like well spoken monologues. You can hear more Lowell on 580AM CFRA Ottawa on his show The Lowell Green Show (also known as The Island of Sanity) every weekday morning.

Audio is from an A Channel piece from 2009 I think? (citation missing) all visuals composed in After Effects and drawn in Illustrator.

  • as an Israeil who knows something about terrorism threat, you may debate entering a war zone, but when you debate exiting it the thowbacks also listen to you and will necessarily intensify their fire, making the troops targetted ducks. It's just nature, dealing with 7th-cerntury-mindset

as an animator - wonderful job!

  • @allendista don't worry about it. i have also been known to say things when speaking about politics that people didn't like.

i am conservative minded, however this is one matter that never made any sense why the conservatives supported the war. first it wasn't even really their idea, they were forced into it. then they allow thousands to die without really accomplishing anything. at this point they are worried and nows its time for an exit strategy. what a great job they did.

  • @longliverocknroll5 You know, I really apologize for my 1st response to you. I am not angry at you. I am angry at the fact that a mission that we were told was only going to cost 8 Billion is now up to 24 billion dollars. I am angry at the fact that these conservative politicians that have never served, are just so eager to sacrifice the lives of our soldiers. That's one thing though, you'll never hear Lowell Green discussing on his idiotic show.

  • @allendista i guess you could say a debate is a negotiation, but it is a poor one.

i do agree that we should have stayed out of afghanistan's war, however we were left with little choice thanks to bush's ultimatum of "you're with us or against us".

that would not be helping the matter at all. the soldiers would not be allowed to just "up and leave" they would be shot by the taliban, or other potential enemies within afghanistan.

  • @longliverocknroll5 And yet we are negotiating. We SHOULD never have been there in the first place. Afghanistan was and is not worth the life of one of our servicemen/servicewomen. The war is completely un-winnable. So the options are not limited. They are extremely limited.

Next: whether in this case or any other case negotiating with an enemy, you don't have to be in love with that enemy. We shouldn't just get out. We should run to get the hell out of there asap.

  • @allendista maybe that is not how you interpreted what i wrote but i assure you that is what i meant. by the way just because we are negotiating does not make it the right way to end this situation, you cannot negotiate with these ignorant people. they will kill you. they kill children, women, themselves. there is no respect for other people, or for that matter life in general. how can one negotiate with people who are willing to kill anyone and everyone who doesn't share their opinion.

  • @longliverocknroll5 I am laughing at your total stupidity. Hopefully you will click on the link and watch it/hear it again. That's not what LW is saying you pinhead. He's saying that just mentioning the idea that we should pull out is getting more of our soldiers killed. God, can there be such an idiot?..

BTW, this is coming from the same jagoffs that called Jack Layton 'Taliban Jack' for stating that negotiations should be started with the Taliban. What are we doing now?.. Oh yeah, negotiating.

  • @allendista so you are pro soldiers dying because we are calling to pull troops out early?
