Hi there. Not bad, but if you dim the lights down a bit, and get the 20 a bit thicker and moved to the edge, the result will be a bit better. Also, turn the yellow a bit more copperish and give a darker stone tone to the rest. Nice try anyway.

was thinking starting again, just a hobbyist. and rendering time is just a bitch.

got new comp, thinking ill set up my old for render server. :D

That's ok. Have you tried 3D Studio? I used to work with it and the renderings were quite fast. Like you it is just a hobby, but it started at work when I was working for an architecture office. :-D

Yes and i like it..

but Carrara 7 pro was $169.95 for upgrade. and 500$ for a new licens.

3D studio is $3500 for a new licens.

soo im just gonna face it, i will never use 3d studio at those prices.

they dont have any "private" or hobbyist licenses. so only alternative is a illegal copy.

But ive been running 100% legal software since 2001.

Have you tried Blender? It's open-source and free. There's a steep learning curve, but there are also lots of tutorials online.

Use Blender or 3dmax or Maya if you want to make your own better
