@jimoha003 It was her idea. Jackie introduced David Foster to the song. He had never heard it. Amazing that a child her age would grasp such a song. She is something special with a capitol S.

I really hope you aren't advocating that Jackie's version is objectively superior. Yes, this is my favorite version of this song too, but it's because of the emotion and purity that Jackie gives to it, even if it fails to compare in technique to Kathleen Battle's. I just want to give Battle her dues, she sings it wonderfully with impossibly perfect technique, but I agree that it lacks the passion Jackie sing with here. I find that a fault with a lot of very trained singers.

I cannot breathe when I experience this. Does anybody think this is just a natural talent? My God! What 11 yr old can know these emotions...especially when raised in such a happy home? When she sings this you feel the sadness of the doomed lovers. One of my favorite movies..House of Flying Daggers. The depth she brings, her purity of tone and perfect pitch cannot be of this world. We have been given a blessing of which I am very grateful.

@AlicedeTerre I am actually. Listen to each one and make your own decision. That's what I did. Kathleen signs it perfectly as you say, no technical flaws, but I prefer Jackie. Very few singers can reach into a piece of music and pull out the emotion the composer wants. And yet this 11 year old pint sized girl pulls the feelings out of a piece of music time and time again. Listen to the last note. Jackie just keeps bringing it to the end with that big crescendo. Incredible talent.
