"Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration" -- Thomas Edison

The life of Thomas Edison is a true "rags to riches" story. Through hard work and determination, he helped in creating the modern world in which we live today. Considered to be the greatest inventor of his or any time, Edison's wonderful inventions were a driving force of the Industrial Revolution. From the stock ticker to the phonograph; from the light bulb to motion pictures, his inventions guided America into the 20th Century.

You will learn about:

Edison's childhood in Ohio, where he first began experimenting.

His days as a newspaper boy for the Grand Trunk Railway.

His first invention that was to become his first failure.

The Invention Factory at Menlo Park, where Edison's ideas became reality.

The Pearl St. Power Station and the birth of the electric lighting industry in America.

The Black Maria-the world's first movie studio...and much more.

  • "Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages."

  • @AntonBowie First, you are replying in a tone that leads me to think you are a sick person. Secondly, Edison was a brillant man, period. Lastly, I will bet you all you own (which is probably not much) that you would not use that tone of language in person to me. I have to feel sorry for your miserable life. Maybe you can get some help and turn that useless aggression into something positive. God speed....

  • @gustavsutin I'm not saying he hated Serbs. He just hated Serbia's weather.....

  • @ModelbuildingTANKS Tesla was at a reception at which the poet recited a song our Branislav Nušić, after that Tesla stood knelt and kissed the hand of the poet. So much for how he did not like Serbs.
