Dan was stupendous, esp. in his conditioning! - 7 days a week, 4-7 hours a day to win the Olympics...Actually, the Russians out-medaled us in the 1972 Olympic Games, but Gable coached later teams that bested the Soviets...

@prayforchaos i actually moved to a community with an post secondary program ran by some of the best coaches in the area. What i meant was colleges dont have wrestling as a serious sport

Unfortunately im from Canada and for some reason Wrestling isnt a serious sport up here... Its hard to be somebody in this sport.

In 1972, he won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics without surrendering a point to any of his opponents. The Soviets came to the Olympics with only one goal in mind; to defeat Gable. They were unsuccessful.
In Gable's final 21 Olympic qualificiation and Olympic matches, he scored 12 falls and outscored his nine other opponents, 130-1.
