Espresso extraction of 7 days-old home roasted beans.
Coffee mix:
25% Brasil Santos
25% Papua New Ginea
25% Costa-Rica
25% Indian Monsooned Robusta
Equipment used:
* Nuova Simonelli Oscar espresso machine
* Rancilio Rocky coffee grinder
* Gene Cafe coffee roaster

  • There are a few reasons for this:

    1) In the past I used to store my home roasted coffee in a wrong way that did not allow out-gassing. So 7 days old coffee in many cases acted like a much fresher one.

    2) The Oscar produces much too high brew pressure. Some people solve this by a mod in which they install an OPV. I solved it by upgrading to a Vibiemme Domobar Super... :)

    3) The Robusta is out - I haven't been using Robusta in my blends for a long time now.

  • Wow would have guessed those beans were hours old not seven days!!!! I guess it was the robusta that made them so gassy. Any reason why the robusta???
