Kentucky Republican 2008 Convention - Nominations

The chair claims in error that the time limit was voted in unamimously, and cites this as his reason to ignore the delegates on the floor.

I was confused too. I didn't think the chairman could make a motion himself (but they claimed that committee chairs could, which was what happened). I haven't researched that detail yet, but with all the rules that got ignored, I have to wonder.

It's moot anyway... there's no way McCain will beat Obama in November. McCain is a doddering fossil with an IQ barely above room temperature and a memory that's as long as the last time he ate a meal.

When a veteran tried to be a delegate and represent those who sent her to the convention, Steve Robertson sicked two burly Sargent of Arms on her and tried to eject her. They had McCain robocalls before the convention to scare old Republicans so they could be bussed in to oppose those who would "disrupt" the convention. Disrupting the convention is defined as not rubber stamping what Steve Robertson wanted to do.

Total sham. They padded the schedule with meaningless drivel for two hours so everyone would be anxious to leave, then rammed through their agenda in a few minutes at the end with no discussion allowed. Delegates were there only to rubber stamp the establishment agenda and not to represent their counties.

This is a shameful tragedy. If it has not before been clear that political parties are a hindrance to American liberty, it should be crystal clear at this point.
