  • and they could use any fuel

  • @fizzguts Even so, steam turbines provide ample power. Also, I would think the ability to run on nearly any combustible fuel would be a huge advantage.

I think a steam turbine running an electric generator might be the ultimate hybrid vehicle. It would certainly be better all around than these smug but ultimately mediocre parallel hybrids that choke the streets.

  • Cool!

  • @granddad2002 For motor vehicles. The bulk of the steam power plant is bigger than the equivalent IC. Materials in steam units are more expensive than the equivalent IC. The boiler is sort of a consumable item. The mileage per hp is worse than the equivalent IC.That said if you get the pressure and temperature up to super critical levels steam looks a lot better. Cyclone Power technologies may have the answer.

  • The car is a Doble. ASK Jay Leno

  • I am a fan of steam power and the plane is cool but I wouldn't fly in it. If something goes wrong you cant imagine all the problems you will have.

  • The arguments on why steam died never really impressed me. An assembly line could build steam power plants as competitively as an other system. It's the strangest argument... steam engine couldn't be made fast enough because they were made in such small numbers? And they were expensive because they were made in such small numbers. What a life; America used to produce everything... now we close plants and make contract and lawsuits. What happens when cheap labor dries up?

  • I just love the steam plane they need to build more of them.

  • I just love the steam plane they to build more.

  • @grandtheftauto4123 It runs on liquid fuel only and it is quite thirsty
