  • ....wanted the hali for Sushi and Sashimi, but I did not have the proper spear tip....

I fail to understand that... you had a powerful gun and a Tahitian tip with a well filled reel...Why did u not shoot.? i am not criticizing, i hunt only in the Mediterranean sea and we have no halibut.... so i do not know what is is the proper technique and equipment to shoot halibut. Would appreciate your explanation.

  • @rgargour Hello, thanks for your comments. I did not shoot because I had too powerful gun and sharp and expensive sliptip for the bottom laying halibut. I shot a halibut one time thinking that it was laying on soft sandy bottom, but he was actually laying on a rock. I took a shot, but my tip got stuck in the rock. I could not pull it out since my riffe euro 100 with two 5/8 inch slings were too strong. It stucked deep. I lost the shaft and the slip tip that costed me $160. Continue...

  • @sumogurinet When I hunt just for halibuts, I use riffe C2 or Euro 75cm with double flopper tip. Hawaiian and Tahitian tips are too sharp to shoot halibuts from 90 degree angle toward bottom. They tend to come off. I do not like to damage fish and not getting it.

  • I will subscribe to who ever answers my question how do you hold your breath for that long? I know how to blow the o2 off by breathing deeply but that still only lets me hold it for another 30 seconds or so and i only have about a min down their

  • @metelfann3 Hello! I am still trying to learn the sports. I am sort of afraid to dive alone longer than 1 min unless I have a buddy who watches out for me on surface for SWBO. Light Hyper Ventilation (reducing CO2) may be OK for short casual dive, but I have learned that is one of the reasons to trigger Black Out. My #1 concentration to improve my breath holding skill is to train my mental. I am thinking to get professional training near future. Thank you!

  • Not taking the shot on that hali was impressive

  • @Elpescador83 Thank you. I wanted the hali for Sushi and Sashimi, but I did not have the proper spear tip, so I decided not to.
