Ran the 240sx convertible for the championship - CST class (California Street Touring). Ended up 4th out of 5 :(. I think I'm getting slower. About .1 second behind 3rd, but a good second behind 2nd and 3 seconds behind 1st place.
Here, you can hear that I hit a cone coming out of the walloms toward the back of the course (wayyy too much momentum and speed). However, either the cone wasn't called in or the cone remained upright and still touched the box (no penalty). Either way, it wouldn't have made a difference in my standings - so I'd like to think I was good/lucky enough to just wiggle the cone around. ;)
The course was backward compared to Saturday. Taking into account my average competitor's times, the 240 is about 5-6 seconds quicker than the stock SL I took out on Saturday. With just tires and minor suspension tweaks on the SL, I should be able to close that gap by another 3 seconds or so. I'll see how I feel about it once I have more of a budget - both cars are begging for new tires.
Anyway, car was running well; video taken w/ Canon Powershot TX1 on a roll bar mount - finally realized that I was missing the lock-down piece on the mount afterward, must have fell off at one point, hence the extra shakiness; the tx1 doesn't do well w/ stiff cars in the first place (image stabilization typically isn't good for in car vids).
I was curious what mods you have on the car. Are they what is legal in Street Touring?
Also how long have you been autocrossing?
I love the look of that site as I was down there for a Lexus track day.
Do you have anybody running a SR20DET in Street Modified, or any other SM 240SX's down there?
Check out my videos and my car.
