The Kern River offers fantastic backpacking opportunities. The terrain is rugged and stunningly beautiful. This video depicts a September trek into the Golden Trout Wilderness. The river was accessed via the "Forks of the Kern" trail.
The unforgiving fast-moving waters of the Kerncan be a death trap for those who fail to heed its dangerous reputation.
Numerous campsites are available on this stretch of the river.
