Railfanning Buena Park

Watch in High Quality! I spend good money on an Amtrak ticket to Fullerton and more money on the bus to Buena Park. What do you know, it was a waste! We barely saw any trains. Never railfan at Buena Park. It's impossible to tell when eastbounds are coming due to a blind curve. It's also in a residential area and there aren't any places to eat nearby. Also, unless you can catch a metrolink there, it takes several busses and transfers to get there. It just isn't worth it. Ironically, the signs in the station say "it's all here."

Trains:

Train 1: Very late Southwest Chief train 3. Led by P42DCs 134 and 95.

Train 2: Southbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train with a dome car. Led by F59PHI 458.

Train 3: An Eastbound BNSF stack train with an ES44DC leading. C44-9W and another ES44DC are trailing. Another C44-9W and ES44DC bring up the rear.

Train 4: A Northbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. Unfortunately, the shot was cut short for some reason.

Train 5: Another Northbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. F59PHI 457.

Train 6: A Southbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. Led by F59PHI 451.

Train 7: A westbound BNSF stack train. Led by BNSF C44-9W 4174. Trailing are ES44DC 7243 and C44-9W 4187.

I like the little touch with the plane. I go there all the time with my 6 year old son, just to watch the trains. He's so obsessed with trains.

@MaLuRosy I'm glad you liked it. Buena Park is a decent place to go if you're just watching trains, but I find they're just too unpredictable for videography.

Buena Park is a good place. same amount of trains that u see at Fullerton..the only problem is the curve on the west side of the Station. But that's why you have ATCS...

The reason we didn't like it was because we spent so much trouble to get there, just to see the same number of trains as we would have seen in fullerton.

if you want more action from there try going there during rush hour. You will see a lot of train action. I have never railfanned Buena Park before, but i have been to Fullerton and the last time i was in Fullerton i caught 10 trains in less than an hour.

The good things about this station is that the bathrooms are clean, and there are electrical outlets at each shelter. However, I agree that it's not worth it unless you live around there.
