A perfect example of what "gerim" meant in the Torah can be deducted from the verse "do not oppress the gerim, for you yourselves were gerim in the land of Egypt." Does this mean the Israelites were converts in the land of Egypt? No! They didn't worship the Egyptian gods and obviously had a separate deity. This is merely a man-made concept, and you won't find ONE single reference to a ger in the Tanakh referred to as an Israelite. In "aharith ha'yamim" gerim will be grafted into the tribes...

There's no such thing as conversion to "Judaism" as taught by the rabbis in the actual Torah. A גר (jer) in the Torah is equivalent to a second-class citizen, and gerim didn't have the same rights as the native-born Israelites did in biblical times. The concepts of ger saddiq and ger toshab are inventions of the Talmudists. A ger in the Torah became "like the native" in his ability to bring the Qorbon Pessa7, but there are other laws that to not apply to "Gerim."

This presents a wide window to a less familiar facet of this religion and culture.

Thank you!

Wow...this looks AMAZING! I'm just about to start the conversion process myself and so I am particularly interested in learning about other people's stories as well. Thanks for doing this, converts to Judaism face SO many difficulties that born Jews never have to deal with and I think this movie will be interesting and educational for everyone!

When is it coming out???

I've been waiting to convert Orthodox for ten years now. Thank you so much for this documentary. It would be great to hear from others like me who have had to wait for a very long time before being able to convert, due to life circumstances. I can say that the desire only grows stronger and deeper every single day of this ten years of waiting. It has been extremely painful. When I can finally convert, the deep pain I've felt will change to the highest happiness! When does the film come out?

No, Orthodoxy does not have a monopoly on G-d, but we do have the right to say that we are most concerned with abiding by the Torah and it's laws which was the original premise of "Judaism" as a religion.

Converts to Non-Orthodox Judaism have a plethora of resources available online and in print in regards to finding advice and seeing those with similar life journeys portrayed. You are free to create your own film if you feel this is some sort of void for non-Orthodox converts.

I can't wait for this documentary to come out! Though I wish people were allowed to embed it on their blogs -- I have a blog dedicated to conversion and most of my friends there are as well; I know they probably won't click the link whereas they would have watched the video. Still, the sooner this comes out, the better! Will there be a DVD to get when it's done? :)
