The Warriors entered the always hostile environment of Bulldog Stadium as definite underdogs. This would be their 5th game of the season with only one "W" to date (Weber State).

Coach Mack said, "This is the best total team victory I've ever been involved in. The kids competed to the end."

"This is as tough a loss as I've had since I've been here," said Pat Hill, in his 12th season as Fresno State head coach. "I've never been around a game with that many turnovers."

Fresno was a good enough team to get back in it after awful field position most of the game. With 51 seconds left in regulation and a chance to potentially win — and give Fresno State its first lead — Kevin Goessling attempted a 36-yard field goal. But Hawaii's Antwan Mahaley blocked it.

"It felt like a good hit, but the ball was probably a little low," Goessling said. "Credit Hawai'i. They got a jumper up there."

And then The Iceman Cometh. Dan Kelly, who entered the night 2-for-6 on field goals this season, drilled his 33-yard kick to send the Warriors to a rousing 32-29 overtime win over No. 22 Fresno State.

This was the first UH overtime victory against a nationally ranked team in the history of the program.
