Commentary About Craig Clasen Killing a Tiger Shark - Imaging Foundation is completely volunteer run, however our advisory board are key scientists, commercial divers and videographers. Stan Waterman was the first person to ever document a great white shark underwater. The advisor on this short has logged over 10,000 dives. Many with sharks.
Our videos strive to show people that sharks are not all 'jaws and claws', but much more complex. People who understand sharks realize that while Clasen may have been frightened of this large and potentially dangerous shark, he had the opportunity to get out of the water. Instead Clasen and his team chose to pursue the shark and eventually kill it.

  • the idiot who made this video probably never heard what craig had to say about the entire experience, the shark was acting in a preditorial manner towards the cameraman who was simply filming them spearfishing for tuna and the reason he shot it was because the shark kept circling them closer and closer, he goes on to say that he has a lot of respect for sharks since he dives with them constantly and never had an experience like this before. So unless you were actually there, shut the fuck up.

  • @217Jwhite The idiot who made this video has over 10,000 dives under her belt, is a member of the divers hall of fame and could blow Clasen out of the water. He is a pathetic jerk who has a need to prove himself by killing sharks that are retreating. Seriously, this guy does not have a biology degree, he is a guy in the water trying to prove what a man he is and you are buying it hook line and sinker. Get a clue.

  • You didn't like how he shot the shark multiple times? Would you rather him shoot it once and let the shark suffer a long slow death?

Clasen felt threatened and did what he had to do. Sure, watching it on your PC out of harms way, it's easy to say "coulda.. shoulda..woulda", however you were not in his position, therefore, who are you to pass judgement?

You care about sharks more than humans? If he were attacked it would have been tragic.

So you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't.

  • lol hey dumnass do you have no idea how to use Windows movie maker, half your video is black

  • J White has apoint.

  • @diabhalo Bullshit. A single species going extinct doesn't control the entire ecosystem like that. There are more species that have gone extinct throughout history than there are currently living. If your claim were true then there would've been thousands of times throughout history when the ecosystem would have fallen apart due do a dominant species going extinct and we'd have died off. You argument fails.

  • awesome

  • @l0keman You sir, need to be educated. Killing and eating a ton of sharks DOES NOT make the ecosystem survive longer, but the complete opposite. The actual apex predator of the sea, the shark, is meant to control populations in the ocean so it we stable. We, humans, have been overfishing the oceans so much that the ecosystem will simply collapse. And sharks don't eat "our food in the ocean," it was never ours to begin with. They thrive to survive and are more important to the ecosystem than us.

  • I eat shark meat and it is good, a shark is no different than any other fish, save for the fact it is powerful enough to eat a person. Pulling tons of them won't do much for the environment except make more room for us to fish within the ecosystem. WE as humans are the apex predator in the seas, make no mistake. Killing and eating a ton of sharks just makes the ecosystems survive longer as they are eating less of OUR food in the ocean.

  • one shark wouldnt diminish an entire ecosystem. honestly it doesnt matter if a person gets killedby a shark, or kills a shark. either way, someone would say something. honestly if you think sharks are all flowers and rainbows, you lack plenty of experience in your 10,000 dives. and to think it is more important than a human beings life is beyond retarded. attacking him or not, the shark still posed as a threat, and you cant take that away from him.

  • Thats a fair old sized shark, and obviously dangerous, and even more obviously behaving in a threatening manner. I wasn't there, so can't comment as to the 'how's' and 'whys', but this guy seems to behave in only way he can, he kills the shark, humanely as he can, he clearly respects and appreciates 'wildlife', but under the circumstances he had to make a decision, he made it, and probably the right decision at that. I've found in life that those with qualifications are usually the worst.
