@woohooboy Nyssa was also the only companion who understood things on his level, other than Romana. He ends up with smart companions, but I think Nyssa was unique in that she wasn't from Gallifrey, yet could easily keep up with, and on occasion even surpass, the Doctor. And yet that ability never got in the way of the story. It wasn't resented. It worked, they complimented each other well. She's probably my favorite female companion because of that.

I wish they had dumped Tegan (no offense to the actress, only the character).

It's funny because I remember as a teenager always being under the impression that they left through their own choice. As time has moved on I found out that Matthew was written out with no choice, but not until now did I realise that Sarah didn't choose to leave either....

Sarah Sutton was never a great actress, but she was far better than Janet Fielding and the other companions around that time. Nicola Bryant however was a very good actress but given a terrible character to play
