Henry Louis Gates' Lawyer Defends Obama's Use Of Word "Stupid"

Henry Louis Gates' attorney Charles Ogletree tells Geraldo Rivera that he hopes his client, James Crowley and President Obama could meet before the President's summer break. Ogletree also defends Obama's use of the word "stupid." Geraldo adds that this is "as big" as Rodney King.

Gates was inside his own house, demanding to know officer Crowley's name or badge number. Officer Crowley refused to identify himself, offering Gates to "come outside and talk about it." That's when he made the arrest. Gates was lured outside the house & arrested on the PORCH b/c arresting Gates inside his own house for "disturbing the peace" wouldn't pass the smell test.

Gates wasn't yelling because he couldn't - he has medical records documenting a lung infection he contracted on his visit.
