Best way to lower gas prices is put a REPUBLICAN in as PRESIDENT.

This is simply ludacris. If he so cared about us he wouldnt be spending $38,000 a DAY in Secret Service protection AND HE ISNT EVEN GONNA BE THE CANDIDATE!!!! WTF??????

Oil is not the most important problem of our problems. Bye Newt.

That is a brilliant plan. And just as realistic as Newt's! In fact more so. Not only that, but in the few days you have before it runs out, you should be able to do enough shady deals to ensure you have enough money for the rest of your life. Then when the oil runs out a few days later, you admit you were wrong, resign and live off the earnings (which you can share with me for suggesting the rest of the plan!)

I will explain why it is high. Because of supply and demand. If the demand slackened then the price would drop. Simple.

The US accounts for approx. 18% of world crude consumption - meaning the reserve would last a bit longer than your 8 days and 14 hours - indeed if your figures are correct it will last six weeks!

I am surprised you believe that shale oil is so cheap. My understanding was that it was believed to be around USD1.35 per litre - if it came on line now - which is impossible.

But we agree on the basic fact. Newt is not going to get his USD2.50 a gallon.

Unless I am mistaken he has not been in government in the past three years.

Perhaps using less fossil fuel is a better answer. But as long as urban planners plan cities requiring cars and people choose petrol guzzling monsters over small vehicles then this is only going to get worse.

Of course he cannot reduce prices - unless he becomes President now and puts some laws into effect - and then comes back in 20 years time when they may have had an effect. Other than that, it is nonsense to believe this USD2.50 / gallon argument.
