The New Dutch Academy Chamber Soloists directed by Simon Murphy (Baroque Viola),
featuring Stefanie True (Soprano) and Anna Starr and Amy Power (Baroque Oboes),
performing the programme
"Blown Away -- Bach and the Oboe"
in the Kloosterkerk, The Hague.

On the programme: Johann Sebastian Bach's Aria "Erfüllet, ihr himmlischen göttlichen Flammen" (from Cantata no. 1 "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern"), Aria "Schlummert ein" (from Anna Magdalena's Notenbuchlein and Cantata no. 82 "Ich habe genug"), Aria "Er richt't's' zu seinen Ehren und deiner Seligkeit" (from Cantata no. 107 "Was willst du dich betrüben") and the Orchestral Suite no. 1 in C (BWV 1066).
Also performing: Stephen Freeman and Sara de Corso (Violin), Caroline Kang (Violoncello), Christian Staude (Bass), Haru Kitamika (Harpsichord) and Yukiko Murakami (Bassoon)

  • the bend of the caccia is not unusual at all. It is the same instrument Bach had in mind when he wrote for "oboe da caccia" or "hunting horn" oboe - shaped almost like a hand horn or hunting horn, it is pitched in F like the english horn but it is more politically/period performance correct to play this piece on the da caccia.

    by the way, this oboe da caccia performer is BITCHIN! Her tone is pure and her technique is flawless. GREAT JOB Anna or Amy!
