Just some things that I did over the Christmas break. Sorry its late! So this one is just a quick how to video on how to make a cute pair of oven mitts, and a nice cozy hot bag that will save you some green rather than paying for one from the mall.

  • Hey! A few little notes. I could not locate the "thermal" layer at the craft store, but did find some "Warm Tater" batting. After talking with the clerk and doing some research, I discovered that this does work as both the thermal and fluffy layers. (It has to do with water content in cotten and thermal transferrence, yada yada....). Took out one section of tracing and cutting. Little time saver.

Anyway, big hit for Christmas presents, and a GREAT prject for bonding time with my two daughters!

  • @TheHalo498 OOh!! Good to know!! Glad to hear that they turned out!! :)

  • Very cute! And both are awesome uses of some remnant materials that I have! Excited!!

  • @TheHalo498 Thats the great thing about the Cupcake oven mitts as well is that they look great miss-matched!

  • Why do you put the thermal batting on the "top" part of the cupcake? Because you don't grab hot things with that part, do you? Or is it so that the cupcake is a nice even thickness?

  • @PTuinman I did this because I thought not everyone would grab the pan with the base of the cupcake on the bottom. What if they flipped the oven mitt so the "frosting" part was on the bottom of the pan? (even though that would be incredibly dumb) They could possible get burnt... just a little foresight. (Keeping it an even thickness was another reason). Thanks for the feedback though! Let me know how it goes!
