  • They're just multidimensional square matrices that transform either covariantly. or contravariantly.

  • [1] Tensors are NOT the generalization of multidimensional geometric objects, they are the generalization of multidimensional invariant objects.

    Geometrically, tensors can describe an object independent of any geometry, and thus appear "fundamental".

    [2] Tensors are the generalizations of square matrices with specific conditions imposed on it's jacobian yielding covariant and contravariant properties.
