FIRE 1 - House Fire in Cairo, Illinois, June 12, 2008

Here's a house going up in flames I encountered while driving thru Cairo, Illinois, a crumbling town of 3,000 located where the Ohio River runs into the Mississippi River. The house is just east of Sycamore Street, about 314 24th Street. It is right across from the First Praise Missionary Baptist Church. I'm including several little slices of the Friday afternoon adventure. It appears all the firemen involved are of the volunteer variety. It was a brutally hot day. I was melting down in shorts. These firemen are some tough country boys.

Now, all you people who think that everyone cares about the FD, does it look like it here??? Do you see anyone protesting and marching in front of any City hall demanding better Fire Protection??? Pleeeeaaasssee!! One day on the news, next day forgotten!

Wake up FD's, people are not interested enough to even look at it!
