"Critics" like you just crack me up. Know it alls. What the fuck are they supposed to be doing on a ballad like this? "Lacks passion". Just ignorant.

I think if Phil wanted to, he probably could make that German translation sound good. Thanks again.

@stradaveriusfiddle Nope, he was singing something like "na na na nanah...". This was actually always part of the song's live renditions as you can hear on Three Sides Live and various tours until 1986, the difference is only he's not singing it with high pitch any more.
I'd recommend the IT-Tour bootleg of the coaster factory for the best sample of the song with high-pitch ending.

At the three minute 50 sec, point, was Pil singing "follow you.../..me", in German?... I hope so, otherwise,...pretty good live re-creation of a thirty year old hit. At least Phil still sounds pretty much like he did 30 yrs ago. Have you heard what Bob Dylans voice sounds llike lately? He didn't even want to try to play his 'record version' of his hits at his concerts, five years after they came out. Also, the keyboard player had the solo down almost note for note...
Thanks again. Although I like both incarnations, (post Peter Gabriel)....of Genesis, and I saw them in concert around the early '80's, I was not sure if all the same guys rejoined with Phil Collins, through his long solo career. Although I'm pretty sure I had seen Daryl Stuermer with Phil in a clip from one of his solo tours..Did you happen to see the article that Rolling Stone magazine did with 'Phillip' a few months back?

@stradaveriusfiddle No I didn't, but since then various wrong rumours have been spread. Also, Genesis and the solo career of Phil Collins were running just as separate as Genesis + Mike & The Mechanics or the classical compositions by Tony Banks. The ballads like Hold On My Heart and In Too Deep were, against comon belief, mainly written by Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins was responsible for tracks like No Son Of Mine which he wrote the lyrics and half the music for.

I believe that's Mike Rutherford playing guitar on this, but, do you know the names of the other players? Thats not Tony Banks on keyboards is it?

@stradaveriusfiddle It is. Genesis played in the same lineup they have since 1978. Phil Collins (vocals, drums), Mike Rutherford (bass + lead guitar), Tony Banks (keyboards), Chester Thompson (drums) and Daryl Stuermer (lead guitar + bass). Backing vocals being performed by Daryl Stuermer, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks.

saffi01 thanks for the correct info about my wondering what Phil was doing with the melody near the finish of this version,...thanks again, ..'stradfidd'

@stradaveriusfiddle You're welcome, I'm sure you'd also agree that German "Ich werde dir folgen, wirst du mir folgen?" wouldn't quite fit in here ;)
