I agree, she could have turned off the bus when releasing the pole securing mechanism, especially since she was switching to electric anyway. When the silver line runs the SL1 route to logan, the operator has to get out and secure the poles after lowering them (and release them when raising them again). It could have something to do with the fact that the bus goes through another tunnel that isn't electrified. On the SL2 route, the operator can just raise and lower the poles from inside the bus.
