...For now the Kindler, Varda, the Queen of the Stars,
from Mount Everwhite has uplifted her hands like clouds,
and all paths are drowned deep in shadow;
and out of a grey country darkness lies on the foaming waves between us,
and mist covers the jewels of Calacirya for ever.
Now lost, lost to those from the East is Valimar!
Farewell! Maybe thou shall find Valimar.
Maybe even thou shall find it. Farewell!
I've never thought I'm gonna hear that, in all my life.
Thank you soooo much...!

The man invented the language; he knew how to speak it better than anyone else.

I actually started learning Sindarin and knew how to pronounce verbs and stuff, but it was like 13 years ago. With no one else to talk to and no frequent exposure to it, it just fades away. :sadface:

Isn't this Galadriel's song of Eldamar ai Laurië Lantar? ;P I'm pretty sure it is; I recognize a few words...

The way Tolkien intended it, it should be the other way around. Like Welsh having taken some words from Sindarin, which is of course the older language. ;)

I think it just sounds like Finnish? Quenya is based on how Finnish sounds like, just like Sindarin is based on Welsh (I think?).

As a Finn and as a person who has lived in Finland all his life I can say this sounds nothing like Finnish.
But elvish has roots in Finnish so I guess there are some similarities.

Tolkien INVENTED this language, so however he recites it is the correct way to do it
