  • does the flyback heat anything like a mot does, if you don't know a mot over heats in like 15 of arcing.

  • @ubuntupokemoninc @ubuntupokemoninc It overheats about as fast as a mot. The real problem with a flyback overheating is that there is a thick layer of plastic between the coil and the outside and that makes for a delay in heat transfer from the coil to the outside. You can arc it for about 2 seconds and then turn it off and 5 seconds later, The outside of the flyback gets very hot.

  • my wires keep melting (negative side anyway because of internal rectification). what have you done to stop this from happening?

  • Use a bigger wire. The wire you are using is not a heavy enought gauge to support the load.

BTW:What do you mean by internal rectification, You're not talking about the damper diodes in the mosfets are you?

  • how can you pump 700 volts when irfp250's are rated at 200 watts each

  • That 200 watts of power dissipation. That means how much power the device can resist and turn into heat. For example, Let say you turn it on at 50% and run 20v@10A(200W)(supply), that means your load is getting 10V@10A(100W) and the other 10V@10A(100W) is being absorbed by the MOSFET itself and dissipating that waste energy as heat. The IRFP250 can handle 200v@30A(6000W). At a full 30A load @ 8mOHMs (fully turned on.) that a 2.4 volt drop @ 30A equals about 72 watts of dissipation.

  • he need so much things to provide the power needed to run the zvs driver at 700watts

  • @joyange1 lol'd @ 6000W. you got that from 200V * 30A right? what a bunch of bullshit. voltage drop is wrong too. did you ever hear of ΔU = R*I? i think not.

  • Very nice arcs!! Cool channel ;-)

    Thumbs up*

  • does wire length in the circuit affect the size of the arcs ?

  • i will die if i touch the focus screen of the flyback?

  • nice hot arcs!

  • hey! great video, i'm almost jealous lol! where did you get a rear projection TV from? they are pretty big things, but you still can get big as flybacks from 29" TVs, eh? those are some massive arcs.... i have a huge pile of flybacks that i need to use soon enough when i get the parts for the drivers etc with big black ones which are typical, but it is a joy have older ones.

  • @joyange1

I can run my ZVS for Minutes without gettin any part hot :)

Will post some videos when completely finished.

Btw, got some problems with primary circuit arcing while driving two flybacks^^

  • It looks like the gates are connected to the Zeners, pull-down resistors and nothing else. This shouldn't work?
