This cast on is awesome! It gives you live stitches at the cast on edge after you unzip it, which will allow you to knit in the opposite direction without a detectable seam. The blue yarn is the waste yarn and the white is the working yarn.

  • Thank you so much for sharing and showing us a video on this technique of cast-on. I have seen so many videos on how to do a "provisional cast-on" (even from professional knitters/websites) and no one came as close to you in terms of slow, steady and detailed explanations. They either go too fast, skip the part after the last cast-on and/or not showing how to remove and transfer live stitches to needle.

    Thank you once again!

  • Thanks for explaining the missing 1/2 stitch at the end of this cast on. I have been going crazy trying to figure that out!

  • This was so helpful. I'm starting to knit a stocking for the first time and had NO idea what the pattern was talking about when it described this. Thank you!
