  • You’re a life saver! My furnace broke down on New Year’s Day. House started getting cold. I found the burnt thermister on the circuit board. I read in other forums of using a jumper wire to bypass the thermister until a part became available. I don’t think this is wise. I did talk to an electronic tech and he suggested using a 15 amp fuse on (the 10.3 amp motor) until the part comes in.

  • @lehinicholes

I did not think the jump wire bypass was a good idea either. If you look around the 1:26 point in the video you will see that I did the jump the thermistor just to confirm that it was dead. The rest is history.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I carry that transistor because these motor modular blow them ever 4-10 years. The manufacture (mostly GE) looks at these transistors as wearable item. Sorry to anyone who overpaid for these air handlers in the first place because they will cost a lot more in the future too. Most techs change the modular at a cost of $550+ and some even replace the modular and motor at a cost of $1300+.

  • Here is the story on the SG 379 thermistor. It is made by RTI Electronics and is sold by distributors. Their sales team confirmed that it has the same specs as the SG405 (also SG 328 with slightly different lead bends). The specs are on the RTI.com web site for the SG405 and SG328 and suppose to be also for the SG379 when they update their web site.. Lowest price I found is $1.50 but $50 minimum order. Hope this helps, Gabe

  • Parts listed above worked perfectly. I bought 3 for $1.52 each, since overnight shipping on the weekend cost $60 with UPS! Regardless, the $62 went down a lot easier than $1000+. Again, Great video!

  • Wonderful video! Mine had the same issue, and I've shopped all over, finding these exact models for $20+ shipping. I've been looking all over, and found the thermistors with the best rates on Newarkdotcom. $1.52 each. Search model # SL22 1R020.

These are different model numbers, but the same specs (as the SG348). I was told by a pro that they would work. I'll update this comment w/n 3 days if they don't. THANK YOU!!!

  • @mthompson782 Thanks

  • @local701 you can buy a updated thermistor at mjtunlimiteddotcom for 19.95 same day shipping

  • You can buy the SG379 Thermistor from AmazingKeysdotcom.

  • I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. I had the same issue with my blower motor and was researching the least expensive way to replace it when I came across your video. Took the motor apart and found the thermistor burnt and not connected on one terminal. Replaced and back in business! Thanks again!!

  • @gabept

    Thanks
