The Northern Ireland Assembly held a Memorial Service for the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński on Saturday 17 April 2010 at 3pm.

The Service, held in Parliament Buildings, was open to the public and emphasised the close relationship between the people of Northern Ireland and the people of Poland.

Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Mr William Hay MLA said: Over the last decade, many Polish people have made their home in Northern Ireland and have contributed greatly to our society and economy. As a mark of respect to our Polish neighbours and friends as well as to show our profound sympathy to the Government of Poland, we felt that it was only fitting to hold such a Memorial Service.
