    First 3 seasons at LFC Digger was the best player in the country by some distance, Gazza, & Robson included....he was the stand out player in a brilliant LFC side.

    I 'hated' him as a player because you just knew he would score or set someone up to score against us...brilliant player!

    However, we did beat Liverpool on the last day of the standing Kop. Mind you, we haven't won at Anfield since.

    that image of john barnes in the red shirt.. out on the left, then cutting in onto his right foot and putting it straight in the far corner is one that comes straight to mind whenever anyone mentions his name.

    right up there with kenny and steven gerrard as the greatest ever liverpool players.

    John Barnes turned me into a liverpool fan when he signed all my mates at school remembered the goal he scored for england against brazil when he took on the full brazilian team and scored a amazing goal. Since then i have been a liverpool fan hopefully Sterling will become the new john Barnes
